Hemlock Hills Farm

As one the oldest (and one of the last) working farms in Westchester County, the De Maria Family has been striving to provide the community with all natural, wholesome farm raised products for over 60 years. They aspire to preserve what is left of family farming in the beautiful Hudson Valley.

John De Maria is the family patriarch who still gets into the thick of things when necessary. His daughter Laura manages the fields and chickens day-to-day.

The farm raises many vegetables, but our main interest for My Personal Farmers.com is their chickens. The chickens are raised free-range, spending their time in pastures or anywhere else they want to go. Their feed is primarily grass from the pasture; in bad weather they are given alfalfa and a protein. Nor hormones or other growth-promotants are added to their feed, so the breast meat tastes better but isn’t as large as a conventional chicken. The chickens are processed twice per week right on the farm under a NYS 5A license, and are sold whole only.

Once you taste one of the Hemlock Hills chickens, you will never want a chicken from anywhere else!
